Embark on a 3-day Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. Discover the authentic Moroccan Sahara including dunes, oases, kasbahs, and rocky landscapes. Spend one night in a hotel and another night in a camp under the stars.
Pick-up starts early in the morning. Leaving Marrakech and heading to the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, Tizi Ntichka and Haihe pass through the collar of the Atlas. I will stop by many times along the way. Visit the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the 11th century. A striking example of traditional southern Moroccan architecture, a picturesque place full of emotion.
After lunch, drive through the Roses Valley to your accommodation in Dades. After a traditional Berber dinner, spend the night at your hotel enjoying beautiful views of the valley.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Tundra Gorge, a natural high limestone cliff carved for thousands of years. Climbing enthusiasts will also appreciate this wonderful place.
After lunch, the journey continues to the enchanting dunes of Merzouga. It is a village that marks the beginning of the Sahara. At this point, your vehicle will be replaced with a camel for a 1-hour traditional camel ride. You traverse the dunes and admire the sunset and ever-changing colors.
Enjoy a traditional dinner to Berber rhythms, then spend the night under the stars in a nomadic tent in the middle of the desert.
Early in the morning, you can watch the lavish sunrise. A wonderful contrast, darkness, light, and color… After a traditional breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel. Continue through the Draa Valley and the Berber village of Agdez to Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah of Taourirte. Admire the monument’s exterior architecture, a sandcastle with bronze walls jutting into the sky, and domed Spiers at various corners of the Kasbah.
Crossing the Atlas Mountains, you’ll be on your way to Marrakech safely and comfortably to your destination for the evening.
